Adrift's gives back

Adrift's gives back

I find it a rare pleasure  to meet a person who ‘walks the talk’. Now I don’t want you all to think I’m a hardened cynic, far from it. I’m probably more of a hopeless optimist, I guess that’s why disappointment can sometimes sneak up and slap you in the face like a stinky wet fish.
I’m sure the vast majority of people  really do mean well. I’m sure they make promises they intend to keep - but sometimes, as we all know, life can get in the way, and hence that talk remains just that - a bunch of pretty words.
Businesses, by their mere definition are, (and I looked this up to get it right), ‘a commercial activity whose trade is considered in terms of profitability”
I guess that’s why when you hear of people and more particularly businesses prioritising people and community over profit, it sticks with you, like a warm glowy feeling rather than the stench of that aforementioned dead fish.
Every year, in December, Adfift does just that, putting Australian people and Australian communities first. They not only walk the walk but, to use another cliche - they put their money right where those pretty words come out.
This year, our favourite inclusive fashion label has donated $30,000 to Yallari - an Australian not-for-profit that provides full secondary school boarding scholarships to young indigenous kids from remote communities.
While that in itself is impressive, the focus of Yallari is to create lasting generational change within these remote communities, providing the privilage of an excellent education to those most at risk within our great country.  This can be done by empowering and educating the youth. Their goal is simple,  and one I choose to believe most of us share - for a person to be judged on their character, instead of the colour of their skin.
Now, I don’t want to get all preachy on you. That’s so not what I’m here for, but admiration and a degree of pride has gotten the better of me.
Admiration for Adrift’s illustrious founder and leader, Bec Pullar, who has long had a profound and enduring relationship with Yallari - seeing the lasting impact the gift of education offers, not only to the recipients, but to their communities and our great country as a whole. But also for the initiative, established in 2012, for Adrift to develop a social responsibility and give back to it’s customers and to  it’s Community.
I feel proud and grateful to be associated with not only people, but a business that really does walk the talk.
