The Gold Coast is one of Australia’s most popular tourist destinations, with stunning beaches, great restaurants and loads of fun spots to visit. Every Aussie knows that a delicious breakfast and great coffee is a must-have on any getaway, so we’ve put together a short list of our favourite Gold Coast spots to check out on a weekend trip. Or, if you’re a local, make sure to give these spots a go for a Sunday morning with your family and friends!
1. Sandbar, Surfers Paradise
Located directly across the street from the famous sand of Surfer’s Paradise beach, Sandbar provides cool, laid-back vibes and delicious food. This gorgeous cafe serves up everything from poke bowls to gourmet burgers, and of course great coffee. Surfer’s Paradise is the north end of the Gold Coast, so if you find yourself nearby, make sure to check out this cool spot. At night you can grab awesome cocktails and a huge range of craft beers, so be sure to head here for dinner too!
2. The Milkman’s Daughter, Mermaid Beach
With one of the most beautiful fit-outs of a cafe we’ve ever seen, The Milkman’s Daughter in Mermaid Beach is stunning for a weekend breakfast spot. This cafe is fully vegetarian, with loads of vegan options too, so although it doesn’t serve up your typical ‘big breakfast’, you can find absolutely delicious meals here like ricotta pancakes, pesto eggs, healthy porridge or corn fritters! This spot is located just a street back from Mermaid Beach, so have a quick swim before indulging in a scrumptious brekkie!
3. Social Brew, Burleigh Heads
Located on busy James Street in Burleigh Heads, Social Brew is a bustling cafe with a stunning, leafy interior and mouth-watering food. The decor of this spot is perfect if you’re looking to take a cheeky instagram photo too, with vibrant colours and cool interiors. Our favourite picks for a delicious breakfast at Social Brew would be either the Burleigh Acai bowl or for something savoury, try the eggs benedict!
4. Cafe DBar, Coolangatta
Situated on top of the hill above popular surfing spot Duranbah, Cafe DBar is one not to miss. With incredible views of the water, amazing food and great coffee, this cafe is a popular spot amongst locals and tourists alike. Next door is DBar House, which is a gorgeous art space, selling unique and beautiful gifts, clothes, jewellery and art. Make sure to look up which art exhibition is on show when you visit. If you’re looking to watch the surfers out at Duranbah, then grab a coffee or juice to go, sit on the hill and soak in the view!
5. The Salt Mill, Currumbin
For relaxing, chilled-out vibes, The Salt Mill in Currumbin is one to put on the bucket-list. Mere meters from the sand of Currumbin Beach, The Salt Mill serves up incredible food and amazing coffee, making it perfect for a post-swim spot. The acai bowls at The Salt Mill are famous for being some of the best on the Gold Coast, so we’d definitely recommend grabbing one of those and sitting with the view of the ocean in front of you. For a morning pick-me-up, grab one of their freshly squeezed juices too! Afterwards, make sure to browse the shops along the front of Currumbin Beach, you’ll be sure to find gorgeous clothing, art, surf gear and more.
